Admission Criteria

Government Admission

Online applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to various trade courses affiliated with the NCVT under the Craftsman Training Scheme (CTS). These courses are offered by different Government ITIs/ ITCs/ Government ITIs running under PTP/ Government Junior Polytechnics (JP) in West Bengal. The list of available courses and institutions can be found on https://scvtwb.in. The session of every academic year begins in the month of August.

Candidates who have passed the required entry qualifications from any school within the state of West Bengal are eligible for admission. Those appearing for the Madhyamik examination of the current year or equivalent examination this year from a recognized board can also apply online within seven (07) working days from the date of publication of results.

Trade courses are categorized into two groups:

  • E Group
  • M Group

Minimum entry qualification for M Group trades: Passed Madhyamik or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
For E Group trades: Class Eight passed from a recognized school.
Applicants can apply for admission in only one group of trades (either M Group or E Group).

Age limit: Age Criteria: Applicants should meet the minimum age requirement as specified in the official notification available on https://scvtwb.in/. Please refer to the notification for details regarding eligibility criteria, including age considerations, for the upcoming academic session.

Institute/trade allocation will be done through e-counseling based on the rank in the merit list and the applicant’s choice. Institute/trade choices will be collected online from the applicants in due course.

IMC Admission

In Government ITIs running under PTP mode, 20% of Management quota seats will not be filled through the Government online admission process. Operators of the respective ITI are responsible for admitting trainees to the management quota seats in the Government ITI running under PTP. Through this process, Govt ITI Tapan running under PTP also admits trainees under the IMC quota.

Trade courses are divided into two groups: E Group and M Group.

Minimum entry qualification for M Group trades: Passed Madhyamik or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
For E Group trades: Class Eight passed from a recognized school.
Age limit: Applicants should be at least 14 years old. There is no upper-age limit.

IMC Admission Procedure:

A candidate can take direct admission in specific trades of the ITI until the availability of IMC quota.

Required Documents for Admission:

  1. Admit Card of Madhyamik
  2. Mark sheet of Madhyamik
  3. Pass Certificate of Madhyamik
  4. Aadhar Card of the candidate
  5. Father’s and Mother’s Aadhar card of the candidate
  6. Medically Fit Certificate of the candidate
  7. Passport-size color photo (5 pics)

Age – As decided by the Government for most candidates. Relaxation is given for the physically handicapped, widowed, and ex-servicemen.
Academic Qualification – Depending on the trade selected, the education qualification requirement can range from class VIII to class X.
